The Kenyan Women’s Network introduces groups of women to health and wellness practices, financial literacy, personal development, basic bookkeeping, basic business skills, human rights, as well as a 3-year micro-financing program. In turn, they develop small, revenue generating businesses and become vital members of their community, and are able to provide for themselves, their families and their fellow network members.

“If people see me that knew me before, they would not know me. I’m not like I was before Pangea. Even my children’s lives have changed and I can now pay for school. I am now working so my children can go to college. Pangea has changed my life. Pangea has changed my business. I can stand on my own and I am stable. I can teach my children what I have learned. And for that, I am happy.”

– Monica, Kenyan Women’s Network.

This spring, our Kenya and USA staff teamed up for The Pangea Network’s first Reproductive Health Training. Representatives from women’s co-operatives all over Kenya traveled to Nairobi to learn more about prenatal care and childbirth. About 48 out of every 1,000 babies die during birth in Kenya. Our health training helped dispel systematic myths that make this statistic a reality. Through The Pangea Network, we are making an impact in communities in Africa with empowerment and sisterhood.

Like Monica, women in Kenya often lack access to education, healthcare, and opportunity. However, after getting involved in Kenyan Women’s Network’s first Reproductive Health Training, Monica became well equipped with the knowledge and skills to support herself and her family.

Members of our Kenyan Women’s Network refer to each other as partners – they are our partners and we are their partners. They are very supportive of each other and often form deep friendships in addition to ongoing professional business relationships. They share ideas, best business practices and often become official mentors and officers for Pangea. They bond naturally in order to support one another and their families – and that’s when they turn to Pangea.
