Meet Monica. She is a tailor and a member of the Mukuru women’s group.
She has 4 children, never went to secondary school, and is her family’s primary supporter. Monica’s business is doing incredibly well since training. The picture is from her small shop in Mukuru.
Last year, Hyline wore a dress she tailored to our Tenth Anniversary Celebration. During the most recent trip, Monica made dresses for all the Pangea staff. She measured Beth, Nicki, and Dorothy for dresses in her small shop in Mukuru.
Also, we are extremely excited to announce that, along with paying for all of her children to go to school and secondary school (the equivalent of high school), Monica is going to high school herself! She is in her forties and is more excited than ever to pay for her own education.
When Monica was in the equivalent of USA 8th grade, she took the national exam for admittance into secondary school or high school. She scored so high that she was admitted to a national secondary school (a big honor) but her family could only pay for her or her brother. They decided to pay only for her brother, selling a cow to send him. She has carried her letter of admittance around since that day and is now able to fulfill her lifelong dream of getting a high school education.
