Tell us about yourself

I am a mother of three as well as a businesswoman. I run a food selling business which is located in Ndere Market, Siaya County. My main customers are the motorbike riders and masons working in and around my village. I have school-going children, two in college and one in primary school.

What are you most proud of?

I am proud of the fact that I manage to keep my children in school as education is the most valuable thing I can give them. I urge other women to be resilient in their business operations and take advice that can improve their business. My interaction with Pangea has helped me a lot and I wish the same for other business women. Based on the advice I have received, my future plans include having several food outlets so as to increase my customer base as well as sales.

What is the most important lesson you’ve learned with The Pangea Network?

From the training I received through Pangea, I greatly benefited from the lessons on bookkeeping. It is from this skill that I realized the greatest challenge that is posing a major setback in my business; selling food with no credit. Most of my customers buy on credit since they have low incomes and daily earning wages, so they need to be paid before they can pay me my dues. From the business management skills, I have decided that I will have to open other food outlets and also begin offering delivery services so as to increase business sales. The loan I received from Pangea will go a long way in helping me facilitate these developments.
