Name: Joyce Waiyuwa
Coop: Nema Women Group
Tell us about yourself: I am 43 years-old and a mother of four children and I am a wife. I joined Nema Women Group in 2007. After the six month training program I opened a business with capital of less than 5,000 Kshs. The Pangea Network gave the group a loan. I first took a loan of 10,000/= to upgrade my business of selling cooked food and then 20,000/= to buy utensils. When I joined the Group I could only save Kshs. I was saving 300/= per week and now am able to save 1,000/= per week. My profit was 2,000/= per week and it is 4,000/= per week. Thanks to The Pangea Network I am able to provide comfortably for my family and maintain savings in case of any emergencies.
What are you most proud of? Having money and being able to provide for my family has restored back my dignity as a human being.
What is the most important lesson you’ve learned with The Pangea Network? That they keep their word and they are committed to helping women in Kenya change their lives through empowerment.
