Tell us about yourself

I am a 54-year-old wife, mother of four, and a businesswoman. I reside in Ndere area of Siaya County. My main business is selling bananas as well as rearing dairy cows whose milk I sell.

What are you most proud of?

I have been told by my family, neighbors, and friends that my appearance has greatly improved and I am generally happy. I am proud of the fact that I now manage my business with a goal in mind – making a profit – as opposed to prior times where I just used to do it as a hobby. With all of the information I obtained from [The] Pangea [Network], I am willing to share it with women around me so that we all prosper in our businesses.

What is the most important lesson you’ve learned with The Pangea Network?

The training we were offered by [The] Pangea [Network] was very good. The most important lesson I obtained that I apply in my business was Marketing. My business is majorly selling bananas and milk, hence, I don’t source for goods or raw materials. Therefore, I have to look for buyers to buy in wholesale and sell in the markets. This way, I ensure I have a maximum profit and also avoid wastage. From keeping business records, I know how much milk I sold, how much I spent on animal feed and money paid to the farmhand. In addition, part of the profit I made was used for personal expenses and some saved in my bank account.
