Tell us about yourself
I am a 41-year-old businesswoman, married and a mother to seven children. I operate a grocery shop in Kibera, Nairobi and sell a variety of produce including fruits, vegetables, potatoes, eggs and fish.

What are you most proud of?
I have worked hard to see my business grow. I am happy when I see repeat customers and also get orders before my stock comes in. This ensures that I have a steady flow of income to continue my business as well as provide for my family’s keep. Of course, challenges are there in business, like having low sales on particular days. I just ensure that I open my business every day and I have purpose not to lose hope.

What is the most important lesson you’ve learned with The Pangea Network?
I especially liked the training on Women in Leadership. Women are the ones who drive the economy in today’s Kenya. I want to ensure I succeed in my business so as other women can learn from me too. I also know how to calculate my profit and I try to separate business money and money for personal use. I also like to share ideas with other women who do business like me.
