LEADERSHIP
CHALLENGE (YWLC)

YWLC Program overview

Red Shape image

This year-long program offers high school young women a comprehensive leadership development experience, starting with a six-day in-person Summer Conference in either Houston or Austin.

Throughout the year, it provides ongoing support through mentoring, mandatory monthly online meetings, and a hands-on Take Action Challenge where members plan and execute a community service project.

OUR APPROACH: 1 YEAR OF LEADERSHIP TRAINING

Yellow Shape image

The program begins with an intensive six-day in-person Summer Leadership Conference held in either Houston or Austin.

Each participant is assigned a mentor who helps you plan and execute your community service project (Take Action Challenge) – meetings are typically 30 min long and happen 2-4 times a semester via phone, zoom, or in-person.

The Take Action Challenge invites young women to put leadership into practice by creating their very own community service project. Through shared stories and ongoing video content, participants and alumni reflect on how they continue to lead, serve, and show up in their everyday lives.

From August-April, all monthly meetings are held ONLINE via Zoom on the 1st Wednesday of each month, 5:30-7:00 PM CST.

SUCCESS STORIES

Yellow Shape image

Mandy Dang began her journey with YWLC in her senior year of high school, with her TAC centered around spreading happiness throughout her community through small acts of kindness. She has just graduated from Texas A&M University as an Allied Health major, and is currently pursuing to work in the diagnostic imaging field. Falling in love with The Pangea Network and its mission to empower communities through knowledge, education, and a supportive network, Mandy continues her involvement with YWLC as an intern, mentor, and alumni board member. She hopes to continue supporting young women as they grow into their best confident selves, and can’t wait to see what new ideas future cohorts will develop to create an impact in their communities!
