TUKAI: Transforming Lives for a Brighter Future
Join Us this Giving Tuesday
This Giving Tuesday, you have the power to support boys in Kenya as they grow into confident, resilient young men who uplift their communities. Help us raise $20,000 to launch the Tubonge Uwazi na Kaka Initiative (TUKAI), with every dollar matched up to $10,000!
What is TUKAI?
The Tubonge Uwazi na Kaka Initiative —TUKAI, meaning “Let’s talk openly with our brothers”—is a rare and urgently needed program aimed at empowering adolescent boys with knowledge, life skills, and emotional support. By focusing on boys’ unique challenges, TUKAI provides comprehensive health education, mentorship, and positive guidance in areas often overlooked, such as gender norms, emotional health, and relationship skills.
Why Boys? Why Now?
As communities work toward gender equality, boys are often left out of critical educational and social programs. Studies show that when boys are excluded, they are more likely to experience issues such as low self-esteem, school dropout, substance abuse, and even engagement in gender-based violence. The ripple effects are felt by entire communities, impacting girls, women, and families alike.
TUKAI’s innovation lies in its proactive approach, helping boys navigate societal pressures, make informed choices, and become allies for gender equality.
Your Impact
When you support TUKAI, you are helping to support 375 adolescent boys in three rural counties of western Kenya through a year of programming. The team has trained 15 male Peer Educators from each of these communities to provide the local support and mentorship needed to deliver the following:
Every donation brings us closer to a safer, healthier, and more inclusive future for all.
