A Note from Our Founder, Nicole Minor

Happy 2019! You may feel like I do when I ask myself what happened to 2018. It seemed to pass in a flash – it is hard to believe we have already stepped into 2019! Our team is so thankful to all of our supporters for making so much happen for so many in 2018.

The Pangea Network celebrated four of our Kenyan scholarship students successfully completing their college educations! This is an enormous achievement given all of the obstacles they had to overcome, and we couldn’t be more grateful to their sponsors who made it all possible.

Charlene finished with a diploma in Community Development from African Nazarene University and is already working for a local non-profit organization helping children with HIV. Felix finished first in his class with a bachelor’s in Food Science and Post-Harvest Technology from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology. Peruce has achieved her Bachelor’s in Education and IT from Maseno University, and Sheila completed her diploma in Human Resource Management from Kenyatta University. We could not be prouder of their accomplishments and can’t wait to see all they do in this world!

Thanks to you, in 2018, our team in Kenya was able to expand and deepen our Kenyan Women’s Network. A total of 136 women from our 2018 cohort have gone through intensive trainings in basic business skills, leadership, human rights, personal development, bookkeeping and health and nutrition.

457 women from our cooperatives received various follow-up trainings including 313 receiving reproductive health education.

Over 530 women received revolving funds for small business growth and consistent business mentorship. All these efforts, thanks to our donors, are translating into more productive, educated, healthier and happier families.

And right here in the U.S., 55 Houston high school aged young women joined our Young Women’s Leadership Challenge (YWLC) program and are making positive change in their communities through their hard work on their year-long service projects. Mentors and our team are helping to encourage and guide them through the inevitable ups and downs of any such endeavor. They are doing great things and inspiring us all!

Our goal for 2019 is to continue and accelerate this impact by bringing our programs to a total of 1,000 new women and youth.  Together we will be activating their potential, empowering pro-active servant leaders, entrepreneurs and community changemakers for generations to come.

We thank you for giving us the opportunity to change lives together! What a year it will be!

Wishing you and yours a joy filled, healthy and productive 2019!
